Shehadeh-Cope
Tamara Shehadeh-Cope, Esq. is a Hearing Examiner with the Pennsylvania Human Relations Commission (PHRC), Pennsylvania’s leading civil rights enforcement agency. She is also a proud second-generation Latina and Arab-American child of immigrant parents. Shehadeh-Cope has dedicated much of her life and career to advocating for human rights and furthering social justice causes. In her current role, Shehadeh-Cope serves as an adjudicator and presides over cases relating to alleged discrimination in employment, housing and commercial property, education, and public accommodations. Prior to joining the commission, Shehadeh-Cope practiced immigration law and served particularly vulnerable communities throughout the Commonwealth. Her past work includes providing know-your-rights education and removal defense representation to asylum seekers before the Departments of Justice and Homeland Security, and representing noncitizen survivors of intimate partner violence and human trafficking in their cases.
