Arlene Marshall-Hockensmith Esq. is the director of DEIB at the Pennsylvania Department of Conservation and Natural Resources (DCNR). Prior to DCNR, she served as the first director of DEIB at the Pennsylvania Legal Aid Network, Inc. (PLAN, Inc.) where she was the first woman of color to hold a senior leadership role. She is member of the Pennsylvania Bar Association’s (PBA) Legal Services to the Public Committee, Minority Bar Committee, DEI Team and is the editor-in-chief of the Houston’s Legacy Newsletter. She is active on the boards for Regional Housing Legal Services and Central PA MLK Day 365. Arlene is also a member of Governor Shapiro’s HIRE Diversity and Inclusion Subcommittee. Arlene received her J.D. from Widener Commonwealth Law School and her B.A. from the Pennsylvania State University. Arlene is the recipient of Widener Commonwealth Law School’s 2023 Excellence in Public Service Award and Penn State Department of Political Science’s 2024 Outstanding Public Service Award.
